TALES FROM THE MUSEUM / SGEULACHDAN BHON TAIGH-TASGAIDH
A month-long An Tobar residency which aims to shine a light on Mull's heritage and link silversmiths Sally Pattrick and Eleanor MacDougall to create new work inspired by private collections, Mull Museum and the ruined village of Braighcreich. The artists will engage with local communities through workshops, school visits and open studio events.
During the residency, Mull silversmith Eleanor MacDougall will focus on the township of Braighcreich (a now ruined village on the Ross of Mull) and a private collection of artefacts. Edinburgh-based artist Sally Pattrick will make a study of artefacts held in the Mull Museum and in private collections. Both artists will work with curators and archivists to study and research the lives of the 'ordinary' people who once lived and worked on the island, researching place names, archaeological sites, artefacts and oral traditions.
