Judy Fairbairns's work is intuitive, working from her emotional centre, often with a rebellious disregard for proportion of exactness. She identifies and breaks boundaries and her love of colour and movement, of feelings and moods and of things being full of play, fun and laughter are at the centre of her work. She says of her work 'I have learned not to take myself too seriously and so I will approach a new piece of work seriously, and yet with the sure knowledge that when I 'let go' the painting will come together in a way I never imagined it could.

Judy studied Art for one year after her family had grown and flown! Since then she has worked alone and has learnt a great many techniques through endless failures and some success. Despite limited formal knowledge she believes that when it comes to facing a new challenge as there are now critical voices in her head to hold her back -she just leaps in and begins!
