Venue: Bunessan Hall
Cliar was formed in 1998 by singers Arthur Cormack and Mary Ann Kennedy, but, truth be told, the roots of the band go back a good deal further, arising as it did out of lifetime family ties and musical friendships. Three lead voices, all five when called upon, are backed up by some of the finest fiddle, harp and piano around. Arthur - possibly the greatest Gaelic singer of his generation - and Mary Ann, are joined on front vocals by Mary Ann's cousin, Maggie Macdonald, producing the close vocal performances that only family can call on. |
