Artists' Statement Since moving to Mull in 2004, and being inspired by the natural landscape, a one-off attempt at making a whistle from some fruitwood collected on the island, soon created a large stock of whistles and so I looked to other natural materials with which to create other decorative items. Having always found the form of natural wood to be beautiful, I made my first driftwood clock and now spend my spare time scouring Mull for interesting wooden and shell pieces for my crafts. The range of crafts has now extended beyond whistles and clocks to other decorative and functional pieces made out of wood and other natural materials (such as naturally-shed antler horn). Where possible, the timber used for wood-turning is local, wind fallen wood, but for a range of woods for new challenges and interesting projects the timber is sourced from wood mills that have a sound policy of sutainable timber sources.
