A craft fair is being held at Edderton Village Hall, Ross-shire on Saturday 13th November 2010 and the organisers are putting a call out to makers of hand-crafted goods who would like to particiapte in this event.

Working with the new generation in Mid Argyll Pipe Band
Following on from the rehearsal programme that led to both the Mid Argyll Collection book launch event and the unique random Aspekts project, Wild Biscuit have been working with MAPB throughout the summer on a new live performance set which premiers at the Broadisland Gathering on September 4th.

Four seasons theme for Rural Network photo competition
A new photo competition from the Scotland National Rural Network website challenges you to capture the ‘Seasons of Rural Scotland’. The competition launched on 27th August 2010 and will run until 31st August 2011, with quarterly deadlines for photos of each of the seasons. The public will choose a winner and runner up for each season by voting in an online poll on a shortlist of five entries. Galleries with all the entries for each season will be available to view on the Rural Network website.

Caithness Horizons Art Exhibition
The National Mod is coming to Caithness this year, this means that from the 8th to the 16th October 2010, the county should be overflowing with people, many who will be visiting for the first time. Causing Chaos exhibition - One Day Symposium
To coincide with Fife Contemporary Art & Craft’s exhibition ‘Causing Chaos’ at St Andrews Museum, a free one day symposium will be held in St Andrews on Saturday 2 October 2010 to explore some of the themes in the exhibition. Curated by artist Claire Barclay (who also takes part in the show) is a selection of national and international artists and makers - ceramics by Johannes Nagel, Susanne Petzold, Richard Slee; jewellery and metalwork by Shari Pierce, Estela Saez Vilanova, Hans Stofer; small scale sculpture by Claire herself, Siobhan Hapaska, Jane Simpson.

New Scottish Furniture Exhibition
The Scottish Furniture Makers' Association is one of the largest and most diverse groups of bespoke furniture makers in Britain. The aim of the SFMA is to promote the finest in craftsmanship and design through the work of its members, and to develop a wider public awareness of contemporary furniture design in Scotland. They have launched a new website which gives details about their exhibitions and also has an online catalogue.

After exhibiting, since 1992, only in Italy and recent exhibition in Kyoto, Japan, Mr Klinger is offering his larger works in pencil – drawn paintings.

Shetland Writers Appearing at the Edinburgh Book Festival
This year’s Edinburgh Book festival will be graced by not one, but two of Shetland’s resident writers, in the forms of TS Eliot prize-winning poet, Jen Hadfield and, Donald S Murray, author of “The Guga Hunters” (Birlinn 2008). Both will appear at different events on Monday 30th August 2010 at the Scottish Power Studio Theatre.

Shetland Arts First Online Echibition Is A Huge Success
As part of the Portage: Finger Symbols exhibition currently on show at Shetland Arts’ Bonhoga Gallery it was decided to enhance the rings and finger pieces on show. Local artist, Chloe Garrick, has photographed the pieces being worn so that some of the more unusually works could be seen in context.
